• Abstract:

  Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that results in loss of memory and other cognitive functions. It is characterized by the presence of amyloid plaques and tau tangles in the brain, as well as the degeneration of cholinergic neurons. Early diagnosis of AD is essential for effective management, and biomarkers play a central role in assessing the disease. Amyloid PET and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers have shown promise for identifying pathological changes associated with AD. However, the combination of biomarkers with detailed clinical assessment remains necessary for an accurate diagnosis. Research into new treatments continues to be an active area, aimed at improving patients' quality of life and slowing down the progression of the disease.
