Abstract: Cervical artery dissection (CAD) represents one of the main etiologies of stroke in individuals under 50 years of age. This study aims to analyze the clinical characteristics, diagnostic methods, and therapeutic options of CAD in young adults through an integrative literature review. The methodology was based on the analysis of scientific articles published in the last ten years in the PubMed and SciELO databases. Results indicate that while CAD can occur spontaneously, minor cervical trauma and connective tissue diseases are significant risk factors. It is concluded that early diagnosis, aided by imaging tests such as CTA and MRA, is fundamental for reducing morbidity and mortality and preventing permanent neurological sequelae.
