Abstract: The new social demographic perspectives show a significant increase in population aging and, consequently, a growth in the elderly population. This trend is evident not only in developed countries but also on a global scale, leading to major changes in social, historical, philosophical, and legal spheres. Thus, the inclusion and respect for this age group become necessary, with education being the main means of achieving this. The Federal Constitution of 1988 recognizes education as a universal right essential to the full development of every citizen, regardless of age, as outlined in Articles 205 and 206. The Elderly Statute (Law No. 10.741/2003) establishes in Article 21 that the Public Authority must create opportunities for elderly individuals to access education, and in Article 25, it states that the Public Authority shall support the creation of open universities for the elderly. This study aims to analyze the inclusion of the elderly in society through education and to examine the role of the Open University for the Third Age at the State University of Ponta Grossa (UATI-UEPG) in promoting elderly integration. To achieve this, bibliographic research was conducted using the deductive method from a dialectical perspective, along with structured interviews with students of the Open University for the Third Age (UATI), a program offered by the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG). The protection of the rights of the elderly is an ethical imperative, the affirmation of which fosters a more just, supportive, and inclusive society.
