Abstract: In the current context of so many depressing health conditions, such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, insulin resistance, hypertension, among others, lifestyle change is one of the most recommended solutions. Among these lifestyle changes, nutrition stands out. Among the nutritional measures with surprising and notable results is the Low Carb Diet, or low-carbohydrate diet. This diet, despite being considered a fad, is growing in popularity and recommendation by specialists, mainly due to practical results experienced by people, as well as the success of scientific research. The objective of this work is to present a synthesis of research and scientific studies in books, articles, and reliable and relevant sources on the Low Carb Diet. The relationship between the Low Carb Diet (LCD) and the health of its followers will be addressed clearly and unambiguously. At the end of this article, it is hoped that readers will deepen their knowledge and be able to demystify the Low Carb Diet. In conclusion, the Low Carb Diet is effective as an adjunct and even a primary treatment for a wide variety of health issues. For the effectiveness and safety of the Low Carb Diet, monitoring and guidance from specialist professionals is fundamental. At the end of this work, it is hoped that readers will not label or stigmatize the Low Carb Diet as a fad diet or a controversial diet lacking scientific basis.
