• Abstract:

  This review article proposes a study on the possibility of reversing type 2 diabetes in which, when the reversal occurs, the patient reaches a “post-diabetes” state, which in some cases resembles the “post-diabetes” state. prediabetes”, but with lower cardiovascular risk. Diabetes is a non-communicable chronic disease, responsible for the emergence of comorbidities in patients, if there is no proper glycemic control and treatment follow-up. Thus, this article presents a brief discussion on the possibility of reversing type 2 diabetes based on results presented in studies published in the database in the last five years. It appears that updated methods of treating obesity, such as bariatric surgery or restrictive diets, can be recommended for reversing type 2 diabetes.
