Abstract: This study explores the academic and psychological perspectives regarding the challenges and impacts of neurodiversities in higher education, focusing on conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder. The research seeks to understand the academic difficulties, as well as the emotional and social impacts faced by these students within the academic environment, in addition to the strategies developed for adaptation to university life. The methodology consists of a qualitative literature review, involving a critical analysis of the collected material and the development of a synthesis. The results demonstrate that the barriers to adaptation have historical and cultural roots, causing negative effects on the mental health and academic retention of these students in higher education institutions.
