COMMUNITY LAND IN PORTUGAL: NEW DYNAMICS OF INSTITUTIONAL ARTICULATION FOR TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT
This article aims to understand the theme of rural common land, a space known in Portugal as community land or common land, to relate this type of territory, which is characterized as rural with low density, with the perspective of development and community governance. For this, a literature review will be presented, to focus on the social, economic and environmental issues linked to the theme of the common land, and on the conceptual framework developed by Elinor Ostrom, to then apply the framework of analysis of socio-economic systems. ecological surveys on a grouping of common land, to understand the governance and management dynamics that permeate these territories.
