Abstract: The conversion of academic research into innovation in Brazil still faces structural challenges despite high scientific output. This article, based on discussions from the LIX Annual Congress of SBFis, analyzes the obstacles and opportunities for integrating master's and doctoral graduates into the productive sector, exploring the paradox between scientific production and innovation. Brazil ranks tenth in scientific production but paradoxically holds a distant 50th position in the innovation ranking. The study examines the difficulties in R&D funding, the low level of university-industry interaction, and public policies aimed at fostering this collaboration. Based on national and international experiences, the study presents proposals to strengthen the interaction between academia and the productive sector, driving the country’s technological and economic development.
