Abstract: This article examines the relationship between Brazilian educational policy and Social Work practice in supporting refugee children in São Paulo, highlighting how forced displacement—intensified by the contradictions of contemporary capitalism—shapes school dynamics and generates challenges that require interprofessional interventions. Drawing on bibliographic review, legal analysis and the study of pedagogical practices in public schools hosting students of multiple nationalities, the article discusses the linguistic, cultural, emotional and institutional barriers experienced by refugee children, which demand strategies of reception, protection and cultural mediation. It also presents methodologies developed within schools, demonstrating the strategic role of Social Work in constructing inclusive and democratic practices. The study concludes that ensuring the right to education for refugee children requires actions that go beyond formal access and guarantee permanence, belonging, cultural recognition and comprehensive social protection.
