NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT IN LEARNING DISABILITIES: A CASE STUDY

This article seeks to reflect on the importance of neuropsychological assessment in children. The research is significant because there is still a scarcity of studies in this area and many gaps to be filled. The objectives are to understand the importance of neuropsychological assessment in the therapeutic process and to analyze a case of pediatric neuropsychological assessment. The methodology consists of a literature review and a case study. It is observed that there is still a need for greater training in neuropsychological assessment among professionals, that the assessment is dynamic, and that its instruments must be planned according to the client’s needs. In the case studied, the mapping of the main areas to be analyzed is evident, aiming to understand the child’s issues and assist in the intervention process. It is concluded that neuropsychological assessment is part of clinical assessment and serves to provide more detailed support to those involved with the client.
