Evaluation of fertility preservation treatments in patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer

To evaluate fertility preservation practices in women with cancer, particularly breast cancer, so that patients can ensure they retain the ability to have children in the future. Methods: This is an integrative review that analyzed previous scientific articles from the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and the Virtual Health Library databases. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 20 articles were identified. Results: The fertility preservation methods studied are in the early stages of intensive research, primarily involving studies investigating the efficacy and safety of different ovarian stimulation protocols and oocyte cryopreservation. Conclusion: The results of the study suggest that oocyte cryopreservation is currently a safe and effective option for these patients, thus offering the possibility of having children in the future, and that the choice of the best protocol depends on each patient’s individual characteristics and health status.
