Nursing Care Supplemented by Paramedics in Chemical-Related Emergencies
Nursing care supplemented by paramedics in emergencies involving chemicals is essential to ensure rapid, safe, and efficient care for victims of poisoning, chemical burns, toxic gas inhalation, and industrial accidents. This model of care integrates technical knowledge from nursing and medicine with the specialized prehospital response provided by paramedics, promoting faster assistance and reducing clinical complications at the scene. Chemical accidents pose a significant challenge to emergency services due to the high risk of contamination, the need for rapid identification of the substance involved, and the possibility of multiple victims. In this context, paramedics initially respond at the accident scene by conducting a primary assessment, stabilizing the victim, performing initial decontamination, and ensuring safe transport. The multidisciplinary team, meanwhile, plays an essential role in continuous monitoring, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, providing ventilatory support, and preventing complications.
