Abstract: Ozone therapy has gained prominence in Dentistry as an auxiliary therapeutic tool in the treatment of several inflammatory and infectious conditions and has established itself as a promising complementary therapy, especially in Periodontics, where the control of chronic infections and tissue regeneration are essential. Its use has been studied as an adjuvant in the control of periodontal disease due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and biostimulant properties, in addition to its ability to modulate oxidative stress, stimulate neovascularization and promote cell renewal. In addition to its clinical benefits, it is a low-cost, safe, effective, non-invasive procedure, easy to apply and with an excellent safety profile when performed by trained professionals. In the dental field, ozone is considered a novelty by many professionals, although it has been used since the beginning of the First World War, and its regulation by the Federal Council of Dentistry reinforces its validity as a therapeutic resource within good clinical practices. Objective: This study aims to review the scientific literature on the application of ozone therapy in Periodontics, highlighting its indications, forms of use and clinical benefits. Method: A bibliographic survey was carried out in the Scielo, PubMed and BBO databases, selecting studies published between 2007 and 2025. Results: The results indicate that ozone therapy can improve the clinical responses of conventional therapy without significant side effects. Conclusion: It is concluded that, although there is still a need for standardization of protocols, ozone therapy represents a safe and effective tool in periodontal treatment.
