INVERTED CAECAL APPENDIX: DILEMMA IN DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT - A CASE REPORT
The inverted appendix is an uncommon finding that affects 0.01% of adults. This study reports the case of a 47-year-old female patient referred to general surgery for the investigation of a polypoid formation in the cecum. She underwent a right colectomy due to diagnostic uncertainty and the inability to rule out the possibility of an associated neoplasm. The scarcity of literature related to this pathology highlights the need for the creation of guidelines for the investigation, follow-up, and treatment of the inverted appendix.
