Analysis of the oversteer behavior in curves of a vehicle:baja SAE
When making a turn, a vehicle experiences the effect of lateral acceleration, causing load transfer on its axles. There are three types of behavior when this occurs, these being Neutral when skidding occurs in all axles the radius of curvature remains constant, Under the front axle has greater skid, thus increasing the radius of curvature or Over having skid on the rear axle, decreasing the radius of curvature. To find the best behavior that a vehicle presents, Skidpad test was done, where the angle of steering wheel and lateral acceleration data was obtained, analyzing these data arranged in a graph it could be determined that oversteer happened and in order to verify if this would be the most efficient behavior for the type of vehicle designed, a slalom circuit was used, proving its benefit in comparison to others.
