ALICIAN 221: VARIEDAD DE CEBADA FORRAJERA IMBERBE O CAPUCHONA PARA PRODUCCIÓN DE FORRAJE INVERNAL EN LA COMARCA LAGUNERA Y OTRAS ÁREAS GANADERAS DEL NORTE DE MÉXICO
ALICIAN221 es producto del cruzamiento entre la línea imberbe Marco “S”/Frágil “S” del programa CIMMyT-ICARDA, con mezcla de polen de líneas y variedades barbadas de cebada UAAAN, lo que dio origen a la población segregante imberbe de altura regular, avanzándose en masa hasta F5, donde se derivaron un importante grupo de líneas a las que se denominó Buenavista, de las cuales la selección 269 fue cruzada a su vez con plantas de la población F3; ABETO//GLORIA-BAR/COME-B/3/SEN/4/ROBUST//GLORIA-BAR/COPAL de excelente tipo agronómico en Navidad Nuevo León; con lo cual se incorporó altura de planta, tolerancia al acame y desgrane que presentaban las líneas Buenavista. ALICIAN221 es de hábito de crecimiento primaveral de porte alto (1.0-1.2m en riego), tolerante a la mayoría de las enfermedades del cultivo, algo susceptible al carbón desnudo (Ustilago nuda f.sp hordei), adecuada calidad forrajera y rendimiento de materia seca observado entre 8.5 y 15.2 t ha-1, según el ambiente de producción.

Abstract:
ALICIAN221 is the product of the crossing between the awnless Marco "S"/Frágil "S" line of CIMMyT-ICARDA program, with a mixture of pollen from lines and awned varieties of barley UAAAN, which gave origin to the awnless segregating population of regular height, advancing in mass to F5, where an important group of lines were derived that were named Buenavista, of which selection 269 was crossed with plants of the F3 population; ABETO//GLORIA-BAR/COME-B/3/SEN/4/ROBUST//GLORIA-BAR/COPAL of excellent agronomic type at Navidad, Nuevo León; with it was incorporated height of plant, tolerance to the lodging and shelling that presented the lines Buenavista. ALICIAN221 is spring growth habit, plant height (1.0-1.2m in irrigation), tolerant to most crop diseases, slightly susceptible to loose smut (Ustilago nuda f.sp hordei), adequate forage quality and dry matter yield observed between 8.5 and 15.2 t ha-1, depending on the production environment .
