Childhood as a national issue and childcare in the First Republic

• Abstract:

  The main aim of this paper is to discuss child protection and care in Brazil during the First Republic. The methodology used was descriptive qualitative research on the publications of classic authors on the subject, as well as the investigation of documentary data, with an analytical approach, taking into account the socio-cultural context of its production and circulation, considering the diversity of these contexts. In order to elucidate these issues, theoretical references were sought through bibliographic material on the subject.
