• Abstract: This article aims to briefly describe the origin, concepts, laws, doctrines, and processes applicable to the topic of Conflict Mediation. Historical overviews of the topic worldwide and in Brazil are briefly discussed. Statistical results from 2014 to 2024 regarding hearings held and conciliations achieved, provided by the CEJUSCs (Centers for Judicial Settlement and Mediation) in First Instance (NUPEMEC) and estimated by the authors for the CEJUSCs of the State of São Paulo (TJSP) and the Municipality of Caieiras, are also presented. The effectiveness and speed of conflict resolution provided by hearings in CEJUSCs, benefiting society and the justice system itself, are demonstrated by the Conciliation Rates obtained in the hearings and conciliations held.
