MAPEAMENTO E ANÁLISE DA EXPANSÃO URBANA: UM ESTUDO SOBRE A REGIÃO METROPOLITANA DE CAMPINAS (SP)
O presente texto discute a temática da expansão horizontal urbana e a
importância da metodologia de mapeamento, apoiada no uso do geoprocessamento,
para a análise do referido processo espacial. Como estudo empírico, apresenta-se o
mapeamento e análise da expansão do tecido urbano ocorrida nos municípios que
compõem a atual Região Metropolitana de Campinas, no interior do estado de São
Paulo.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the theme of urban horizontal expansion and the
importance of the mapping methodology, supported by the use of geoprocessing, for
the analysis of that spatial process. As empirical research, it presents the mapping
and analysis of urban expansion in the municipalities of the current Metropolitan
Region of Campinas, State of São Paulo, Brazil.
