Tendo em vista a relevância da estrutura de capital e as práticas de governança corporativa junto a competitividade do mercado, os investidores se atentam a correr menos riscos. O presente estudo buscou analisar as práticas de governança corporativa na estrutura de capital das empresas listadas no Brasil, bolsa e balcão (B3) do setor elétrico. O estudo é de natureza descritiva e qualitativa, valendo-se de pesquisa documental, onde foram coletados os dados do balanço patrimonial e as demonstrações contábeis do setor elétrico disponíveis no Brasil bolsa e balcão (B3) e em seguida para ser analisados os índices de rentabilidade e endividamento. A relevância do estudo é direcionar futuros investidores lhes dando assim uma maior segurança, e consequentemente podendo ampliar os investimentos do setor elétrico contribuindo para o desenvolvimento e economia do país. Concluiu-se que as organizações do setor elétrico que aderem as práticas de governança corporativa obtiveram maiores controles sobre suas dívidas tendendo a influenciar de forma positiva na estrutura de capital e diminuindo as participações de terceiros, onde mesmo obtendo uma rentabilidade menor, porem denota-se de forma eficaz para quitação das dívidas e horar seus compromissos junto aos seus credores.

  • Abstract: Considering the relevance of capital structure and corporate governance practices in the competitiveness of the market, investors tend to seek lower risk exposure. This study aimed to analyze corporate governance practices in the capital structure of companies listed on the Brazilian stock exchange and over-the-counter market (B3) in the electric sector. The study is descriptive and qualitative in nature, based on documentary research, in which data from the balance sheets and financial statements of the electric sector companies available on B3 were collected and subsequently analyzed regarding profitability and indebtedness ratios. The relevance of this study lies in guiding future investors by providing greater security, which may consequently expand investments in the electric sector, contributing to the country’s development and economy. It was concluded that organizations in the electric sector that adhere to corporate governance practices achieved greater control over their debts, tending to positively influence the capital structure and reduce third-party participation. Although they obtained lower profitability, it was effectively demonstrated that they manage debt repayment and honor their commitments to creditors.
